Schloss Moyland : An Art Lover's Dream!

Do you think more with the right side of your brain?  If yes, then Schloss Moyland is for you!!

Schloss Moyland: March 2014 Bedburg-Hau
Background:
As you begin your Schloss journey, you will notice that most of these castles have been turned into art galleries.  So beware of this fact when you book a "Führung."  You might find yourself on a 1-2 hour tour of the art it houses, and not over the history of the Schloss if you do not clarify what the tour is about beforehand!!!  Being on an art walk-through is not bad, but just depends on the reason why you are there.  So just make sure to ask what the tours are going to be about - either it's over the history ( Geschichte ), or it's over the Art (Kunst)!

I found myself that day on the Sculpture-park walk through tour.  Which was quite interesting - even though I'm more of a left-brainer.

My favorites were James Lee Byars The Spinning Oracle of Delphi, 1986, and the Eduardo Chillida ELKARTU - and no it's not a broken fork.  ;-) ...and unfortunately I don't seem to have taken pictures of those sculptures.  I might have been concentrating on the tour guide - speaking about it - as the tour was in German, but here are some other pictures I managed to take:

View of herb garden from the North Tower.

The story behind this picture is that unlike today - women in earlier times did not want to tan.  This trellis was built that the women in the summer time could still enjoy the outdoors without getting tanned. There were actual squares cut out as windows so they could sit and still see what was going on.

Overall - I give this Wasserschloss a 9/10.   Don't expect to learn very much over the history, but more over the art.  Between the sculpture park, and the 3 floors of art - you will lose yourself for the day!
