The Rhein-Kreis Neuss area is another Schlösser gold mine! It doesn't take much effort to find one. I feel sometimes all I have to do is just throw a coin out my window, and I would hit one. lol
The 3 following Schlösser are a few of my recommendations if you are out, and about making a bike tour through the Neuss area. Warning: The following can only been seen, and not visited on the inside. I think they are still quite interesting/impressive, and worth stopping by. Kaffee, kuchen anyone!!!??? Lecker.
The 1st is Schloss Myllendonk. This Schloss is situated on a golf course, and is privately owned, and lived in. So unfortunately you cannot pass a certain point, but you can still go in the area and take a look. Could you imagine living there? That's probably one expensive heating bill, and I'm not sure if I would like to have people playing golf outside my window. Sadly this is the other option the Schlösser seem to get to pay the bills. Either they seem to become art galleries or golf courses, but at least they are still standing ...well kind of.
You can find the history here: http://de.wikipedia.org/wiki/Schloss_Myllendonk
The 2nd schloss is Schloss Liedberg. It's not in such good condition as it was damaged in the 2nd World War, but in the moment - it's being restored. http://www.schloss-liedberg.de/
